Joseph Goldfus from Russia to Pennsylvania
Again on the 1910 census of Philadelphia was Joseph b: Russia b: 1874 age 36 with wife "May or Mary b: 1875 " b: Russia age 35, Sarah b: 1898 12, Abraham b: 1899 11, and Fredia b: 1906 age 4 all born in Pennsylvania. The parents seem to check, but Abraham is listed instead of Joseph, and Bessie is not listed. Joseph's birtdate is off by 3 years also. Could this be a different Joseph and Mary from Russia?
On the 1920 census Joseph Goldfuss was in Philadelphia, Ward 1, Pennsylvania at age 50. He was born in 1870 in Russia. He immigrated in 1890. His wife Mary was born in 1894 in Russia. Both were Jewish. They were renting. Their children were: Freda age 13 born in Pennsylvania. Morris Picon was a son-in-law age 25 also born in Russia and married to their daughter, Sarah age 22 who was born in Pennsylvania. This means they immigrated before 1900, and as they said, 1890. Frances Picon, their child was age 2 and was born in New York. Charles Shapiro, a boarder age 33 was a physician with NA 1907. Here, Joseph was a tailor in a clothing shop. They lived in a Jewish neighborhood. This agrees with the 1900 census with Sarah as a child of theirs and that he was a tailor.
